How can you design websites so cheaply? There must be a catch!
Design 75 is a budget service, but that doesn't mean you will get a cheap-looking website. We build sites from templates which are both functional and stylish, so rest assured that cheap won't ever mean nasty. While we endeavour to meet all your needs within the scope of our package prices, we cannot completely remodify the layout of the template without additional charges. If you're aware of this fact in advance then you can plan accordingly. Please take a look at the useful Suggestions provided on this page.

Will using a template mean that my site won't look very original?
Absolutely not! The templates used will ensure that your site looks professional, whilst at the same time being completely adaptable with respect to font style, size, colour etc. By the time we have added your own images, graphics and logos, you will have a website which is uniquely yours. If you're still a little sceptical, then you might be surprised to know that the website you’re currently looking at was also created from a template!

I've already registered my domain elsewhere - can I still take advantage of one of your great deals?
Yes! We will simply link your existing domain to our hosting once you have approved our designs. There is no charge for this service, however we will need full details or your current domain registration to facilitate the link.

I need more than a 4-page website - how much extra do you charge for a bespoke design?
We appreciate that some clients will require a website larger than four pages. If this is the case, then we can quote you for the additional work required based on the excellent rate of just £15/hour. A final amount will be agreed prior to commencement of any work, so you will always know in advance exactly how much you will have to pay.

Will there be any advertising or third-party links on my site?
No! We hate intrusive advertising banners just as much as you do, which is why we don't expect our clients to display any unsolicited advertising on their websites. Nor do we add links to any third-party organisations, with the exception of our own unobtrusive link - Site managed by Design 75. This is included purely for webmaster (maintenance) purposes and we recommend it stays in, but it can easily be removed at the client's request.

How do I make updates to my website?
All updates are completed by Design 75 and they must be submitted to us by email.
This is because we host our websites under a single account, so we are unable to offer clients individual access. If we incorporated a 'content management system' to allow clients access their site directly, it would greatly increase the cost of our service. However, we believe that you won’t find this an encumbrance if you plan your website carefully - please read our suggestions in the right-hand column.

How often can I update my site?
Clients may update their websites at any time, although we recommend you make any major updates when your hosting is due for annual renewal as it will be free of charge at that time. If you wish to update your site at any other time then you will be charged at the rate of £15/hour, with a minimum charge £10. However, for very minor alterations we may agree to waive this fee completely, although this will always be at our discretion.

What search engine optimisation (SEO) techniques do you use?
All our sites are designed to be search engine-friendly. We place appropriate 'keywords' and a suitable description into the code, allowing them to be found easily with a relevant search. In addition, we will also register your site with the ‘big three’ search engines (Google, Yahoo and MSN). We should mention that one of the best ways of ensuring a high search engine ranking is to increase the number of links from other websites to your own.

Who owns the copyright to my website?
When you purchase one of our packages you are paying for a hosting service, which includes an ‘annual rent’ of our design. As long as you continue to host your site with us, you will never have to ‘buy’ the designs we have produced outright. If however you wish to transfer your site to another host, then you must purchase the copyright of your site from us. This will incur a one-off fee of £100, which also includes the transfer process.

Is there any kind of site you won't design?
Freedom of expression is a wonderful thing and at Design 75 we do our best to uphold that belief! We will however refuse to design sites which promote violence, hatred or any kind of criminal activity. We will also refuse to design any site which would generate direct competition to any of the services we offer.

Suggestions
We take value for money very seriously at Design 75 and we are sure that you do to.
Rather than looking for every opportunity to charge our clients for 'extras', like some companies do, we actively encourage them to work in ways which will help save us time and help save them money. |

Formatting your text in a Word document is a helpful start, as it gives us a clear idea of what font style and size you'd like us to use. Please also indicate which page of your website the text is intended for.
Break text into smaller paragraphs and limit the amount of information you put on to each web page, as this will make it much easier to read.
Avoid low contrast text/background combinations and those involving variations of green and red or blue and yellow, as visually-impaired readers may have difficulty viewing your site. |

Visuals are an essential part of your website, but the reaction you really want from your first-time visitors is, "Great! I've found exactly what I'm looking for", rather than simply "Wow, this site looks great."
Choose images which are relevant to your organisation or aptly reflect the message you want to convey. Some images, whilst appearing stylish, may not always be appropriate... |
